Mentos 'Aqua Kiss' Gum

I'm kind of surprised, I never really noticed until today but I have this weird little feeling of brand loyalty towards the kind of gum I usually buy. Usually it's Extra Professional (the seriously adorable ads are probably to blame for that) but today I went for a different brand, Mentos Aqua Kiss.

Apparently in other countries it comes in pineapple and cranberry flavors but I could only find the usual mints here. The packaging is pretty neat, the flap to hold the pack shut is asymmetrical and instead of two rows of gum on top of each other it folds out. The matte black looks very sleek and the contrast between it and the green gum foil is quite nice.

I though the folding would make the sticks easier to get out, however they're stuck in there with some kind of glue. Have you ever gone to take a stick of gum out of the packet and only the ones on the corners are left, and they're sort of hard to get out? Well in this pack that is every single stick, they're stuck in there so firmly you actually have to rip the foil off.

Every. Freaking. Time.
I could understand if there was a problem with them falling out of the pack, but the packet is actually quite sturdy and comes wrapped in plastic so I can't imagine that's a big problem. It's unnecessary and annoying.

Packaging: 2 1/2 out of five
Looks nice, very nice, but it's a pain to get the sticks out.

As far as the actual gum goes, it's not bad. It has something through it like crushed up candy shell that feels soft of crunchy as you chew it. The mint flavor doesn't have as strong a fresh 'kick' as the Extra Professional I'm used to, but it tastes nice and the flavor lasts a reasonable amount of time. It's refreshing enough to get rid of bad breath and it's not too sweet.
However it feels sort of thinner than other gum brands, and I have a weird habit of wrapping it around my tongue and popping it and it's kind of hard with this gum. Probably nothing to anyone else, but its annoying to me.

Gum: 4 out of five
It's good gum, the only thing wrong with it is really a problem with me, not the gum.

Overall it's a good product and the packaging looks nice, but there's just a couple of little annoying things that will probably mean I go back to my old brand next time. Sorry Mentos. ):
